Clean fuel from industrial emissions and industrial waste stream valorization.
Carbon Recycling International (CRI) is an Icelandic clean technology company advancing scalable carbon solutions. The company develops and implements proprietary technology that transforms carbon dioxide and renewable hydrogen into methanol, enabling industries to reduce their environmental impact while maintaining operational performance.
CRI is a pioneer in carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and Power-to-X. It was the first company to produce certified renewable methanol from non-biological origin, demonstrating that recycled carbon can be converted into a commercially viable fuel and chemical. The methanol, marketed under the name Vulcanol, was sold into European fuel markets.
CRI operates as a technology provider and partner to project developers and industrial operators. The company supports the design, engineering and integration of methanol production facilities tailored to local energy systems and regulatory frameworks, including both renewable and combined bio- and renewable methanol configurations.
Today, CRI is engaged in commercial-scale project development with partners in Europe, Asia and North America, contributing to the deployment of solutions where industrial progress and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
